THE BETTY’S PRODUCTIONS – OFFICIAL RULES
General Entry Rules
- ALL entries are CASH ONLY on the day of the race.
- If you are on the “See Office” list, you MUST check in prior to your run or your time will NOT count.
- A W-9 must be on file before collecting any winnings.
- If you win money and leave before the race ends, we will contact you within 48 hours.
- If you need to contact us, please do so via The Bettys Facebook page.
- We reserve the right to refuse service or entry to any individual(s).
Exhibitions
- Exhibitions MUST be taken in the order called.
- Maximum time: 60 seconds per exhibition.
- Exceeding 60 seconds results in a $10 fine, payable before your Open/Youth/Sidepot/BBHH run.
Riding Slots – Weekend Races ONLY
- Limited to the 12 riders and the horse they are riding.
- NO ponying horses.
- NO splitting slots.
- Please be courteous of others using the pattern.
Payout & Entry Rules
- NO texting in entries.
- Results are posted on RodeoResults or at www.thebettysraces.com.
- Winnings not picked up at the race will be handled within 48 hours.
- Checks MUST be deposited within 30 days or they will be voided and winnings forfeited.
- It is your responsibility to ensure we have correct mailing address, Zelle/Venmo info, etc.
- Reissued checks incur a $50 fee.
- If you pre-enter and draw out before the race begins, office, exhibition, and processing fees are NON-refundable.
- ALL entry changes incur a $10 fee, unless the mistake is on our end.
- If required forms are not received within 30 days or 3 requests, winnings and prizes will be forfeited.
Running Rules
- BBHH (slack) runners must select all class options before 10:00 AM (Sat/Sun) or before the next class begins.
- Horse/rider combinations may enter only once.
- Immediate family may ride the same horse (once per rider).
- Riders may enter multiple horses.
- Timer failure = re-run offered (no penalties carry over).
- Competing out of order = no time.
- Closed-toe boots with a heel REQUIRED. No exceptions.
- Contestants receive 3 gate calls.
- Missing your run = no time.
- Horses must maintain forward motion once entering the arena.
- No circling in the arena.
- Knocked barrel = no time.
- 60 seconds to enter the arena or you will be disqualified.
- Excessive arena abuse may result in a fine.
Complaints
- Must be filed with a Betty’s official and include a $50 fee.
- If the complaint is upheld, the fee is refunded.
- If denied, the fee is forfeited.
- All decisions are FINAL.
Open & Youth Race Format
- Open: 4D/5D, ½-second splits
- 80% of entries + 100% added money to purse
- 15 & Under Youth: 3D, ½- and 1-second splits
- 80% of entries + 100% added money
Better Barrel Horse Handicap (BBHH)
- Flat fee, NO payout.
- May carry over to other classes.
- “Insurance run” – last run counts.
- Each barrel may be “fixed” ONCE only.
- 3-minute gate time limit.
- Intended for troubleshooting, NOT excessive schooling.
Sidepots & Incentives (If Offered)
- Ages determined as of January 1.
- Adult 4D: Ages 16–49
- Senior 4D: Ages 50+
- Futurity: 2D, whole-second splits
- Futurity year: Nov 15, 2025 – Nov 14, 2026
- Rodeo Run: 2D, whole-second splits
Average Awards (2-Day Races)
- Based on Saturday & Sunday Open runs.
- Must enter average before close of books Saturday.
- Same horse/rider combo required.
Pole Bending Rules
- Poles set 21 ft apart, 6 poles total.
- Knocked pole = 5-second penalty.
- Hat loss = $20 fine (KK Runs ONLY).
- Running out of order = automatic DQ.
- NO circling before or after crossing timer – $100 fine.
Weeknight Race Draw-Out Policy
- All draw outs for weeknight races must be submitted prior to the draw being posted the day before the race.
- Once the draw has been posted, no refunds will be issued.
Vet / Doctor Outs (2-Day Races Only)
- Must be submitted by 5 PM as posted.
- Refunds processed within ~10 days.
- Office & processing fees NOT refundable.
Warm-Up Area Etiquette
Goal: Teach Better Safety, Not Preach
- Only paid riders/exhibitors + 1 approved assistant allowed.
- NO cutting across, ponying, lunging, breezing, or pop-up barrels.
- Limit cell phone use.
- Stay in control of your horse.
- ZERO tolerance for inappropriate behavior.
- Crew members actively monitor the area.
